HopingHands autism guide

Health and wellbeing

Wellbeing grows when a person feels safe, understood, connected and able to meet their sensory, physical and emotional needs.

01

Accessible healthcare

Appointments can be easier with written information, first-or-last slots, reduced waiting, sensory adjustments and a clear explanation of what will happen.

02

Rest and regulation

Autistic rest may include solitude, movement, deep interests, familiar routines or reduced sensory input. Recovery is a need, not a reward.

03

Mental health matters

Anxiety, depression and burnout require compassionate, autism-informed support. In urgent danger, use emergency services; for ongoing concerns, speak to a GP.
